Home visits and assessments are back!
As before it may be possible to service and repair your item where it lives without it getting all shaken up in transit.
It is also once again possible to listen to your Hifi and rectify anomalies or suggest changes and upgrades, or identify where that mysterious gremlin sound is coming from.

Who we are What we do and Where.
Located in Sheffield the business history goes back 45 years and includes periods of employment with well known companies and training with manufacturers. There have been projects with both of Sheffield’s Universities. Audio electronics dealt with have varied from the very common to the extremely valuable and rare.
Originally primarily an audio electronics designer Robin became well versed in fault finding as well. Every type of media has been successfully repaired and aligned, digital and analogue, valve and transistor. Over 30,000 items in 40 years plus adds up to a great deal of experience.
The service and repairs aspect of the business has recently returned to doing site visits and assessment. This will be discussed on initial contact as well as costs/pricing. Quotes are only changed by agreement. The minimum fee for a complete fix is £90
How to decide if your item(s) is suitable/sensible to repair.
Unless it has sentimental value to you. The item needs to be worth more than our average minimum repair cost which is presently £90.00 parts and labour but it is wise to add your own costs too – so work from £100 in terms of whether you could replace it with a second user or new working item. Check listings for sold items on ebay etc. For example AV amps a few years old for home cinema can often be replaced for £50 - £60.
After that criterion is met the technicalities and availability of parts are the next issue but we can advise on that usually for free. Ignore the often spurious and fanciful tech info on forums and U tube. Email your enquiry via the website or directly. There are some example prices on the website. We reserve the right to refuse an item regardless of criteria.
Methods and logistics.
To fault find an electronic circuit malfunction/failure we use mesh network and nodal analysis for both powered and nonpowered conditions. This has been adapted from design techniques and enables the identification of faulty components even when they measure ok in and out of circuit. There is no other way of doing this accurately and relatively quickly.
Warranty and after service.
There is usually at least 6 month guarantee on work carried out in respect of the same repaired fault reoccurring. This is not a case of the same symptom as many varied faults cause a nonpower or protection situation. We will show you if it is the same fault or not.
If a tuner or player goes out of alignment and needs readjusting within the 6 months this will not be charged for.
It is not our practice to give parts used information as this is our intellectual property and has commercial value to rivals.
